Valentino Tosatti (Columbia University) - Complex manifolds and spheres - February 27, 2012

One of the main objects of my study are complex manifolds. While their definition is natural and straightforward, it is a challenging problem to determine which (real) manifolds admit a complex structure. I will discuss this question, focusing on the seemingly simple case of spheres (and products of spheres), which will lead us to a very basic yet still open problem.
