We will state the theorem in [N. Ressayre, The GIT-equivalence for G-line bundles, Geom. Dedicata 81, 295--324, 2000] describing the so-called GIT-fan. Then we will illustrate this theorem by looking at the case of N points in P^1. Time permitting, we'll sketch the proof of the theorem.
